Educational Background
Sayed Abdulrazzaq Mahmoud Alrazzuqi demonstrated a strong passion for learning from an early age, believing that education was the fundamental key to overcoming life's challenges. He began his education in Kuwait at traditional Katatib schools, where he studied the Holy Qur'an and learned the basics of writing and arithmetic. This early stage of his education focused on religious and foundational learning, which reflected the educational opportunities available in Kuwait at the time.
Education in Kuwait
Abdulrazzaq Alrazzuqi enrolled in traditional schools known as "Katatib", where his primary education centered on Qur'anic studies, proper recitation, writing, and the rules of the Arabic language. He began his studies at the school of "Al Mulla Abdulwahab Al Hanyan", where he learned the fundamentals of writing and Qur'anic recitation in a modest educational setting that relied on simple teaching tools.
Enrollment in the English School
Over the years, Abdulrazzaq Alrazzuqi became one of the first students to enroll, in 1911, in the "Calverly School", also known as the American Mission School, which had been established in Kuwait that same year to teach the English language. This school played a pivotal role in developing his skills, as mastering English later became a gateway to broader opportunities and professional success. The school was administered by Reverend Calverly, with teaching support from an individual from Mosul named "Jirjis Sallo".
Studies in India
In the early 1920s, Abdulrazzaq Alrazzuqi decided to further expand his education by traveling to India, where he enrolled at the University of Bombay to study law. He was among the first Kuwaitis to pursue legal studies abroad. Demonstrating exceptional academic ability, he completed his university studies in a remarkably short period, reducing the standard four-year program to just two years by successfully passing biannual examinations held every six months.
Academic Excellence and Achievements
Throughout his studies in India, Sayed Abdulrazzaq excelled at all stages, establishing himself as one of Kuwait's pioneering legal figures. His education extended beyond academic theory to a deep understanding of Islamic Sharia, enabling him to apply the law with flexibility and effectiveness, particularly in the Gulf region, where a comprehensive grasp of both Sharia and civil law was essential.
